Couples Session – Jenelle & Breck (Skaneateles)

Jenelle and Breck invited me out to Breck’s family camp on Skaneateles Lake for their couple’s session. The place is great, but before you actually get there you have to traverse what seems to be miles of rutted dirt roads that go downward at an alarming angle. I was not at all sure I was headed in the right direction until I got to the bottom and found the lovely camp itself, nestled in the woods and overlooking beautiful Skaneateles Lake.

When we photographed Keisha and Sid’s wedding, I had known Keisha for over 7 years! Other than my longtime friend Kevin’s wedding, that was the longest I’ve ever known a bride or groom on their wedding day.

Angela and Mike had a great outdoor wedding at one of our favorite Central New York wedding venues. Gilfillan”s! Gilfillan”s truly has the best food out there. It has a comfortable, rustic feel and Dan Gilfillan is a great chef and host. Not only do they have amazing food, but they have the prettiest little gazebo out back, overlooking the golf course and pond where Angela and Mike exchanged their vows.

Music – The Joe Whiting Band (Skaneateles)

Joe Whiting seems like a cool, multi-dimensional, REAL guy. His band is great and he’s done a lot of really awesome stuff over the years. You can’t hardly have been around the Syracuse area for long and not have heard of The Joe Whiting Band. We hadn’t met them before, however, and then we had two weddings with them in two weeks. It really gave me a crash course in Joe Whiting versatility. You couldn’t find two weddings that were any more different and The Joe Whiting Band totally rocked both parties.

Elegant, simple, beautiful. These three words describe Lauren and John’s wedding very well. The Lodge at Welch Allyn looks absolutely phenomenal and was gorgeous both during the day for the wedding ceremony and after dark during the reception.

BJ and Liz are both teachers at the same school in Ithaca. BJ actually proposed to Liz on stage in front of the whole school. From that story, you could expect their wedding to be big and theatrical. Indeed it was. Complete with the fairy tale setting of the Turning Stone Casino, a gorgeous bride, handsome groom and a huge party with lots of family and friends.

Music – Crazy Fools band (Utica)

The Crazy Fools are one of the most exciting, rapidly rising rock bands in Central New York. The five-member group consists of Jon Sullivan (guitar/vocals), Sean Gaffney (bass/vocals), Ryan Gaffney (guitar/vocals), Garry Rose (vocals/keyboard) and Jessica Voce (drums/percussion). The band takes great pride in their enthusiastic fans that have given support since the group was officially formed in the summer of 2001.

Each wedding has its own flavor. Some of them are elegant, some are intimate affairs with close friends and family and some, like Rebecca and Bruce’s wedding, are just plain FUN. These guys know how to par-TAY and their great sense of humor permeated the whole day.

Much like meeting any new friend for the first time, we never know exactly what you will get when we interview a potential client. We are always looking for a few things – 1) are they interested in our work, 2) do they have a personality at all, 3) will we enjoy this wedding and shooting with these clients?

Couples session – Lauren and John (Skaneateles)

The first day we met Lauren and John in Skaneateles for their couples session it was a bit rainy. We shot for a bit and then decided that we would continue the session the next time it was sunny outside. We still got some awesome shots in Skaneateles but we got even more when we shot the next day at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool. The butterfly garden was in bloom and it was a perfect blue sky day.

Couples Session – Jeri and Michael (Ithaca)

I met Jeri and Michael at their alma mater, Cornell, for their couples session. They showed me all around the place and we had a ball taking lots of cool pictures. I could stay there for years and never get tired of shooting, I think. Cornell is one of my favorite places.

Couples Session – Angela and Mike (Oswego)

We had a really fun couples session up on the shore of Lake Ontario with Angela and Mike who are getting married August 15th. They also brought their daughter, Kali. It was important to them to involve her in the whole proceedings, right up to the wedding.
